About Kave Bar

Kave Bar is the brainchild of Kat and Dave Shaw who have bought their years of experience, from behind and in front of the world’s hospitality scene, to create a dream space in which Sydney’s Northern Beaches community and visitors can come together.

The dynamic duo saw a need for a stylish and intimate live music venue and their vision has come to fruition, quickly creating a reputation as ‘the place to be’ since opening in late 2016.

Kave Bar is just what it sounds like - a tucked away place full of hidden treasures. It’s a cave of fun, decadence and community connections, complemented by exciting musical, culinary and liquid delights to discover as the sun goes down. Dark walls, chandeliers and warm mood lighting combine to create a unique atmosphere in this eclectic underground space. The stylish decor transports you to far away places and is reminiscent of what you would expect to find in New York, Chicago, London or Paris.

This not so secret, not so prohibited bar could be described as a modern speakeasy and is quickly gaining a reputation for its variety of professional musical acts, unique cocktails, specialty drinks and tasty bar snacks.

Dave is passionate about bringing live music to the forefront of the northern beaches nightlife, and he is still the consummate entertainer both behind the bar and during his occasional stage appearances. Being the drummer from iconic Aussie band, The Stems, his ability to invite musical acts that are perfectly suited to the intimate performing space is becoming a drawcard for the growing clan of regulars who come to see what Kave Bar has to offer. Wednesday is Open Mic night, Thursdays feature unplugged acts and things ramp up on Friday and Saturday nights with a handpicked variety of vibey dance bands and a unique range of musical experiences.

Kat, the ultimate hostess, brings people together and keeps an eye on every detail making everyday eating and drinking into a social sport. Her creative culinary contributions have perfectly melded with the music and atmosphere of Kave Bar to make this underground gem shimmer and shine. Its what makes the Kave less of a bar and more of a complete experience. She thrives on bringing fresh, healthy ingredients into the eclectic and satisfying range of bar snacks on offer and she even makes homemade organic sugar syrups and fresh juices to create an amazing array of cocktails that have to be tasted to be believed. From edible flowers to organic meats she connects with local suppliers to source fresh, vibrant ingredients and bring exciting flavours, colours and combinations to tantalise your tastebuds.
